Exxon to Appeal Aceh Torture Case Ruling

Exxon Mobil plans to appeal a U.S. court decision that allows Aceh villagers to sue the energy giant for alleged human rights abuses carried out by Indonesian troops, saying that the ruling "created the potential for any U.S. company... to be held vicariously liable for host government actions." The International Labor Rights Fund sued the Texas-based company on behalf of eleven Aceh villagers in 2001.
